BEHAVIOR MEDICINE AT STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES (SHS)

SHS provides group therapy, short-term counseling and medical management. If students have long term or specific treatment needs they can provide connection to a clinician in the community that takes your insurance.

NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS

The Massachusetts chapter Compass HelpLine is a peer-support service providing information, resource referrals and support to people living with mental health conditions, their family members and caregivers, mental health providers and the public. 

You can call HelpLine about any issue: from finding peer and family support, insurance issues, substance use and addiction and they will connect you with a local or virtual peer support group.

PHYSICIAN HEALTH SERVICES

This resource is specific to the Boston University School of Medicine.

PHS is a confidential resource of physicians, residents, and medical students including behavior or mental health issues, substance use disorders and/or physical illness. PHS provides a safe environment for physicians to talk to peers about the stress and demands of modern medical practice.

BOSTON ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS

Alcoholics Anonymous is an international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem. It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multiracial, apolitical, and available almost everywhere. There are no age or education requirements. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about his or her drinking problem.

GRIEVING, REFLECTING, AND CULTIVATING EMPATHY (GRACE)

A Boston University School of Medicine student organization dedicated to creating a space for students to have meaningful conversations about loss and to develop an understanding of the nuances of grief as a care provider. 

They aim to foster an emotionally supportive environment of colleagues sharing experiences and to facilitate stimulating discussion about our personal philosophies towards life.

SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE & PREVENTION CENTER (SARP)

SARP provides free-of-charge counseling and medical, legal and academic advocacy to BU students who have experienced a traumatic event, including rape, sexual assault, dating violence, and other types of interpersonal violence. Discussions with SARP counselors are confidential and do not trigger a complaint to the University.
